Visit Us In Licking June 27 - We had a booth at Intercounty Electric's membership meeting in Licking Friday, June 27. We got to meet a lot of people and talk with them about the future of radio in our area. We plan to have a monthly show from Intercounty Electric Cooperative about energy use, saving energy, and news about the cooperative. IRS Approves Charitable Status- The IRS has approved our application for tax-excmpt status and has listed us as a public charity. Coverage!!! - Our News Director, Gene
In case you haven't heard we have some great news! On December 21 the FCC granted our application for a new non-commercial radio station. We will broadcast with 12,500 watts on 88.1 FM. Thanks to our efforts 88.1 was saved for local broadcasting. Since the application process is over we can now tell you that an out of state satellite broadcaster had planned to file for 88.1. It would have provided no local programming or access. There would have been no local studio. They contacted us prior to the filing window. Since our application would have won in a point system based on our localism, and the FCC restriction on number of applications that could be filed by one application, they decided to file elsewhere. We plan to be on the air this summer. We are working on the main studio now and, of course, trying to raise money and redeem pledges to make the best station possible. If you'd like to get involved, send us an email or give us a call, or better still come by 1211 Ozark in Cabool. |
